Christmas Eve invitation

All of you are invited to join us for Christmas Eve service at 8 p.m.
If you know me... you know where! :-)

Wherever you might be for Christmas Eve and Christmas, may the Light of Christ break through the darkness of the night, just as it did so long ago... and may your hearts be ready for the miracle...the message...the wonder...the love...the hope of Christmas. And may Christ stir within you the sparks of faith in your heart that they may grow into flames of the Holy Spirit working within you to change the world, change your life, change your heart!

I can't believe I'm doing this

OK... so the youth I have worked with would tell me that I'm already behind times that it has taken me this long to have a blog. But we'll try it and see how it goes. I see great possibilities here... but must remember to be careful, too!

Today has been a miracle day... altho also a frustration day as well. It's always a miracle day when I can deliver items collected by folks to agencies that help out others. The parish donated gifts for the Christ child and this year were asked to give toilet paper, paper towels, stocking caps, mittens and gloves. Items were to be divided between two local agencies...one a domestic violence shelter and one an agency that works with low-income families to help with household items, clothing, some food and even some utility help. We had 19 stocking caps, 16 pairs of gloves, 6 pairs of mittens, 1 scarf, 1 ski headband, and 2 ski masks to divide between the agencies, as well as 36 rolls of toilet paper and 24 rolls of paper towels. They will help out those who are stretching their budgets beyond the limits as well as the agencies themselves that are working on very limited budget and depending on donations. Hopefully lots of cold fingers and heads of all ages will be kept a bit warmer with these things and may their hearts be warmed by the love passed on by strangers. I am the blessed recipient of the smiles and good wishes of those agency representatives who are so appreciative of the donations. I wish all in the parish could see their faces.

OK... here's my frustration part of the day which I will also pass along briefly. I was waiting for one more item to be shipped before Christmas and knew that the company had used DHL for the shipment... I won't go into the long and sordid details and stupidity of strange bureaucracy, but it COULD have been delivered to my door last Saturday or Sunday...but instead finally arrived (after a long side trip to Missouri for who knows what reason) today through the United States Post Office. So why didn't it get shipped USPS to begin with if DHL was just going to dump it off at the post office? Go figure. Here's my tip... don't use DHL...the big yellow and red carriers. On a good note (which I want to leave on a good note!) the package was my LAST item on my Christmas List so I'm ready now! That's wonderful! AND it's all wrapped, too! Wahoo! Now I just have to make deviled eggs, sweet potatoes and chex mix for Tuesday... and get everything ready for Sunday and Christmas EVE service!!
